Deaf Children Australia (DCA) as an organisation has been delivering employment services funded through the Federal Government since 1998.

When the Commonwealth Employment Service (CES) was disbanded private enterprise and some Not-for-Profit organisations successfully tendered to deliver the newly named Job Network, providing individualised services to job seekers in need. DCA’s original employment service was called Deafworks and was a Deaf and hard of hearing employment specialist.

After successfully delivering these services for two years DCA was awarded additional business and became a generalist provider of employment services to job seekers while still maintaining a focus on Deaf and hard of hearing job seekers. With a name change to VSDC Employment and then later to Sign Up Employment our services have continued to grow as we successfully place both Deaf and hard of hearing candidates and those with any type of disability into work. Recently we were successful in receiving extra business from the Federal Government and will provide services to a greater number of job seekers who qualify for support.

Sign for Work will be supporting candidates eligible for support through Disability Employment Services (DES) from two locations in the Yarra region being Collingwood and our main office on St Kilda Rd. Sign for Work will also be delivering DES services in Brisbane and the Gold Coast for job seekers who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

From small beginnings Deaf Children Australia’s employment division has grown significantly due to high performance in a competitive market and we will continue to strive for more outcomes and meaningful employment for our job seekers.
